Pangbourne College is delighted to announce the exceptional academic achievements of its Year 11 cohort in this year’s GCSE examinations. The 2026 results continue the trajectory of the outstanding and record results achieved last year. This year over one third of all grades achieved were grades 9-7 demonstrating the remarkable dedication, resilience and ambition of the students.

Beyond individual high grades, these results also showcase the exceptional Value Added performance of +0.63 across the cohort. The Value Added score measures the true academic progress a pupil makes by comparing their final GCSE results against baseline statistical predictions established upon entry into the College. This year, every student has on average secured over half a grade higher across each of their nine subjects than they would have done elsewhere. 

By outperforming their baseline expectations, Pangbourne College pupils have demonstrated that tailored teaching, robust mentoring and a supportive learning environment significantly lift individual trajectories. This metric affirms that the College does not merely reward pre-existing high achievers but actively elevates the potential of every pupil, enabling them to secure grades well above their original projections.

The College extends its warmest congratulations to all pupils, with particular recognition for the following individuals whose achieved stellar performances as they transition into the College’s Sixth Form in September: 

• Maisie: joined in Year 7 and achieved 10 GCSEs with 8 at grade 9 and two at grade 8. Maisie will be an academic scholar following a Science and Arts pathway in Sixth Form. 
• Flora: joined in Year 7 and achieved 9 GCSEs including 9s in Combined Science, English Language and Literature. Flora will be an academic scholar and plans to follow a varied programme in the Sixth Form.
• Anna: joined in Year 7 and achieved 9 GCSEs including 9s in English Language, Religious Studies, Spanish and Art. Anna will pursue her Art as an Art Scholar in Sixth Form and will also be an academic scholar. 
• Albert: joined in Year 7 and achieved 10 GCSEs ranging from grades 9-7 including 9s in Biology and English Language. He will be following a Science pathway in Sixth Form. 
• Steven: joined in Year 9 from Moulsford Prep School and attained 9 GCSEs at grades 9-7. He will be following a Science and Humanities pathway for Sixth Form having been awarded both academic and music scholarships for Sixth Form.

Pangbourne has a dedicated Sixth Form Centre that opened last September. This provides a dedicated space for students to prepare for life beyond the College with areas for independent study, collaborative work and social spaces, fostering a balance of academic focus and growing independence. Pangbourne offers over 24 A Levels and BTEC subjects as well as the opportunity to study an Extended Project Qualification and a programme of micro-credentials. Life in Sixth Form at Pangbourne College is all about pupils taking control of their own learning and developing the mindset to forge their own path through adult life. At Pangbourne, each individual is empowered to fulfil their potential and develop the confidence, values and skills to make a positive difference to the world.
