Coming to a new school is not easy, especially when you do not know anybody, and I did not know a single person at Pangbourne! I was quite insecure when I joined, but Pangbourne really helped me get over that insecurity with their kindness and acceptance. From the first day I was feeling that I’m at home.
Our son Jan Niklas joined Lower Sixth in September with the intention of spending at two terms at Pangbourne College. Jan Niklas has settled in very well and enjoys his courses as well as life as a boarder very much. When he came home for Half Term he said it was like coming from one family and going home to another.
Plenty of boarding options
Here at Pangbourne, we provide a number of boarding options to fit with your lifestyle. They are:
- Full Boarding: Monday to Sunday (7 nights a week)
- Weekly Boarding: Sunday or Monday to Saturday (up to 6 nights a week)
- Part Boarding: Monday & Tuesday nights, plus Thursday & Friday nights (4 nights a week) for Years 9 to Upper Sixth. Monday to Thursday (4 nights a week) for Years 7&8
Ad hoc boarding, up to two nights per week is also available upon request for day pupils, at the discretion of the relevant Head of House. Weekly and part-boarding pupils can also stay for additional nights, with the agreement of their Head of House.
Boarders’ Activities
Our events programme is chock-a-block with exciting activities for boarders to participate in. This is one of the biggest positives of boarding with us. Weekend trips are a staple, and we continually introduce new opportunities to explore the local attractions and activities each year. Pupils get involved with providing feedback and suggesting new activities to make their time with us their own.
In the past, trips have included:
- Paintballing
- Ice skating
- Thorpe Park
- Go-karting
- The Winchester Christmas Market
Other hugely popular College events include ‘Pangbourne’s Got Talent’, ‘Divisional Come Dine With Me’ and ‘Pangbourne Does Bake Off’. We have also hosted comedy nights, magicians, fire breathing and inflatables!

If you decide to board at Pangbourne, your boarding house will be the place you go to outside of the regular school day.
