Pupils wholeheartedly subscribe to the school's welcoming mantra of 'Team Pangbourne', freely embracing cultural diversity as enriching their educational experience.
At Pangbourne, each pupil is designated one of five Houses or ‘Divisions’ to which they belong. This helps us to achieve our ‘Team Pangbourne’ mission by ensuring that every pupil has their own community to call home.
Each of these Divisions has its own unique character to be proud of, and are named after ships belonging to the Devitt and Moore shipping company which founded the school in 1917.
Our Divisions
Dunbar is Pangbourne’s Junior House, made up of pupils in Year 7 and 8. An experienced team of Dunbar staff support pupils’ transition from their prep or primary school by creating a positive, welcoming atmosphere. The Division offers a firm foundation for their time with us, developing the confidence of its members ready for them to progress through the College.
Dunbar is split into four ‘Watches’ (Port, Starboard, Forward and Aft) who compete in challenges against one another. They each have their own Watch Captain (a prefect in Year 8) and Dunbar Buddies (equivalent to peer mentors), providing early leadership opportunities. To further friendly competition and maintain high standards, pupils compete for the coveted title of ‘Smartest Watch’ each Tuesday during weekly uniform inspections.
All Dunbar pupils sing in the Dunbar choir and embark on various trips arranged throughout the two years.
