Music: Minimalist Composition Challenge

Co-Curricular

Recently, our new Director of Music, Chris McDade, gave Form 3 a Minimalist Composition Challenge in their classroom music lessons. This involved splitting the pupils into groups and using keyboards to play different 'cells' of a minimalist piece. The challenge illustrated how difficult it can be to play rhythms accurately together, and how important it is to listen to one another, so that they can play in harmony. The lesson was a model one in terms of pace, interest and opportunity.
