After a very unsettled year for us all, we hope that there is some normality around the corner.  The Pangbourne Parents’ Association (PPA) have been busy working behind the scenes even though we have not been allowed to run any events.

Fundraisers

Our fundraisers so far this year have been the very popular Christmas cards that sold out in record time. We hope to be able to offer those again later this year.

Tote Bags

We are busy working on printing the tote bags after the successful divisional competition entries from the students were judged. The winners are as follows

 Hesperus - Andy
 Harbinger - Bayram
 Port Jackson - Reuben
 Macquarie - William
 Illawarra - Rebecca
 St George - Rosie
 Dunbar - Grace

Well done to all of you and thank you for entering!

Dates for your diary

We have lots to look forward to next term depending on Covid restrictions at the time, so please save the dates.

Saturday 4th September: we will run our very informal dog walk for new and existing parents to get to know each other. The tea and cake afterwards are always a welcome treat.

Saturday 19th September: new parents will be invited to join us for welcome drinks after the first parade. Parents who joined last September will also be welcome, of course, as this event was cancelled last year. This is a great time to meet members of the PPA, find out about the work we do and to meet other new parents. We invite you to the very supportive, inclusive and friendly parents’ association. All parents and guardians who have children at the college are automatically a member of the PPA. The committee is run by 12 parents and we are always looking for new members for our volunteer list and to join our committee. If you would like any more information about how you can get involved, please email  [email protected]

Saturday 16th October: our very popular PPA black tie ball returns. This year the theme is ‘Hollywood’ and includes dinner, live music and dancing. This is always extremely well attended, and tickets sell out very quickly. These will be available to purchase in the first few weeks of the Michaelmas term, with an early bird price being offered for the first two weeks. This year we will also be running a silent auction, so if you feel that you have any donations that you could kindly donate, we would be extremely grateful. Thank you.

Saturday 13th November: Christmas market. We are so lucky to have some incredible stall holders and each year we invite new businesses to come and sell their wares. Most stalls book for the following year as soon as the event is finished. We also have a delicious array of cakes which parents kindly bake for us to sell. We have over 50 stalls and this is a wonderful place to start your Christmas shopping.

Where your donations go

We are so grateful to everyone who supports the PPA with their time, enthusiasm and donations, and of course to all the parents/guardians who come along and support us at our events.

The funds that we raise go towards buying items for individual departments that enhance the students experience at Pangbourne College. Here are just some of the things that we have bought over the years: specialised art equipment, lights and sound equipment for the drama department, musical instruments, outdoor seating, gym equipment, hockey goals, and we have helped support the setup of the wellbeing room in the Health Centre.

We also raise funds for a local charity called YPACF (Young People and Children First). They support young people when they leave foster care and help them find a job and offer them temporary housing. We are proud to support this charity and as our annual contribution, we buy all the young residents a Christmas stocking, some of whom have never had one before.

We love the work that we do to support the pupils at Pangbourne College whilst building a very special community of parents and guardians. We can’t wait to see you at our next available event.

Thank you again for all of your support, we couldn’t do it without you.
